Who Listens to Country?

Outside of my circle of musician friends, few in my social circles spend time listening to—or thinking much about—country music. I didn’t grow up with it, but grew to love it in adulthood.

I started this series as a way to share my enthusiasm with others.

Vol. 1: Country Music Starter Kit For beginners and enthusiasts alike. Nothing more recent than 1974. (Spotify)

Vol. 2: Sad Songs and Waltzes Aching voices, fiddles, and pedal steel guitars. Wounded hearts (mostly) living on three-quarter time. (Spotify)

Vol. 3: Crying Holy Christian faith is not required to appreciate or enjoy the sounds of country gospel music. (Spotify)

Vol 4: Roll Up the Rug Fiddle and banjo songs for dancing—at the town hall or in the living room. With at least one waltz an hour. (Spotify)

Vol 5: Black Roots & Branches Vintage and contemporary Black country artists.
